Privacy policy
Last updated August 2, 2026
The short version: this site doesn't track you across the web, doesn't set advertising cookies, and doesn't sell anything about you to anyone. If you book a call or send me an email, I keep what you send me so I can actually help you. The longer version is below, in plain English.
What this covers
This policy covers mercuryjane.com, the site you're on right now. The site is run by Mercury Jane Media, LLC, a Florida limited liability company based in Mount Dora (I work under the name Mercury Jane). It doesn't cover the websites I build for clients, since each of those has its own policy, and it doesn't cover the third-party tools this site links out to. More on those below.
Analytics
I use Fathom Analytics to see which pages people visit and where they came from. Fathom is built privacy-first: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles. What I see is aggregated and anonymous (page views, referring sites, country-level location) and none of it identifies you.
I use it to know which pages are doing their job. That's the whole reason it's here.
Booking a discovery call
The "Let's talk" buttons open Calendly in a new tab. If you book a time, you give Calendly your name, your email, and whatever else you type into the form, and that comes to me so I can show up to our call prepared. Calendly handles that scheduling data under its own privacy policy.
Emailing me
If you email jen@mercuryjane.com, then I have your email address and whatever you wrote me. I keep client and prospect email so I can pick up where we left off months later. I don't add you to a mailing list (I don't have one) and I don't hand your address to anyone else.
Your browser's local storage
When you dismiss the announcement bar at the top of the page, that gets saved in your browser's local storage so it stays dismissed on your next visit. It never leaves your browser and it never reaches me. Clearing your browsing data clears it.
Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers process ordinary request data (IP address, browser type, which page was requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure, under Vercel's own privacy policy.
Fonts are served from this site rather than from Google's servers, so loading a page here doesn't send a request to Google on your behalf.
What I don't do
- I don't sell, rent, or trade your information. Not to anyone, not ever.
- I don't run advertising or retargeting pixels.
- I don't set tracking cookies.
- I don't use what you send me to train anything.
How long I keep things
Email and booking details stick around while we're working together or talking about working together, plus a few years after for tax and record-keeping. Analytics data is aggregated and isn't tied to you, so there's nothing personal in it to keep or delete.
Your choices
Email me at jen@mercuryjane.com. Ask what I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, and I'll do it. Depending on where you live (California, the EU, the UK, and a growing list of states each have their own rules) you may have a formal legal right to make those requests, but you don't need to cite a statute at me. Just ask.
Children
This site is for business owners and isn't directed at children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything meaningful gets said out loud here rather than slipped in quietly.
Questions
